Instalacja przez HDMI: kilka kroków do najlepszego okablowania

HDMI allows you to connect two devices with a single cable -- separate cables for audio and video aren't required. If your television came equipped with an HDMI connection and you would like to take advantage of high-quality digital content, the following info page can help you set up your system correctly.

You can learn more about HDMI technology on the Teufel Audio blog: Blog

Getting started: Does my television support HDMI ARC?

ARC stands for Audio Return Channel. It allows an HDMI cable to send audio both to and from the television.

Check the operating instructions that came with your television or online to see if it has HDMI ARC. This information is also sometimes indicated on the HDMI connection itself.

Note: Standard HDMI and HDMI ARC connections look the same, but you'll sometimes find "HDMI ARC" or simply "ARC" written next to a connection with this function. The essential advantage of an HDMI ARC connection is that it can be used as both a signal input and output. With standard HDMI connections, you'll need to check whether the connection is an input or output channel.

Once your television and sound system are connected via HDMI cable, additional devices like Blu-ray players and game consoles can be directly connected to either your TV or sound system. If your sound system is equipped with the necessary HDMI input, the video signal from any attached devices will be sent to the television. This is called "passthrough".

The following provides an overview of the different types of connections.

HDMI Anschluss ARC mit Passthrough

TV with ARC using a passthrough connection
This type of sound system (soundbar, soundbase or AV receiver) is the perfect "central nervous system" for your home entertainment setup. All source devices (Blu-ray player, game console, etc.) can be connected here via HDMI cable. With an HDMI cable connection, the sound from the television can also be sent in the other direction to the audio device via ARC.

Advantages:
  • A single HDMI cable connects the sound system to the TV.
  • Peripheral devices can be easily attached to your sound system instead of the TV.
  • The sound system turns on and off in sync with the TV.
  • The sound system's volume can be easily controlled via TV remote.
  • Sources automatically selected when turned on.

HDMI Anschluss ARC ohne Passthrough

TV with ARC – Passthrough not used
With this type of connection, all peripheral devices are connected to the television. The sound signal is transmitted from the sound system to the television via the HDMI ARC connection.

Audio from TV programs is also transmitted via HDMI ARC to the sound system.

Advantage:
  • A single HDMI cable is required to connect the sound system to the TV.
  • Audio devices turn on in sync with the TV.
  • The sound system's volume can be easily controlled via TV remote.
  • Sources automatically selected when turned on.
Disadvantages:
  • Multiple cable connections to the TV can look untidy.

HDMI Anschluss ohne ARC mit Passthrough

With this type of connection, all source devices (Blu-ray player, game console, etc.) are connected via HDMI to the audio device. The sound system plays back the audio signal and passes the video signal on to the TV.

Audio from the TV is brought to the sound system via a separate cable (RCA, TOSLINK or coaxial).

Advantages:
  • Audio devices turn on in sync with the TV.
Disadvantages:
  • Requires more cable connections.
  • The sound system's volume cannot be controlled via TV remote.

Disadvantages:

  • The sound system's volume cannot be controlled via TV remote.
